[How to Join]

The Procedure for joining Evangel involves 5 steps:
1. Attending the Inquirer’s Class: offered three times a year at the beginning of each Sunday School quarter; it is designed for those interested in learning more about Evangel, its doctrine and purpose. See calander for dates.
2. Meeting with the pastor and an elder in order to profess your faith in Christ and to answer the five questions of church membership.

3. Meeting with the Session (elders) between Sunday School and Worship to share with them your faith in Christ.

4. Making a public profession of faith in Christ by answering the five questions of church membership before the congregation.

5. The administration of baptism for those who have not received this sacrament.

Evangel Inquirer's Class
Purpose: For a better understanding of what the Bible teaches concerning the Church, its government, and its sacraments. And specifically, how this church seeks to fulfill God's purposes in our community.
Format: The Inquirer's Class will meet from 9:00-12:30 on a Saturday or on Sundays during the Sunday School hour. The class will be divided into six lessons. On areas of doctrine we will concentrate on areas that may be unfamiliar to those who are not from a Presbyterian background. We will use the following outline for our course of study:

Evangel is a Presbyterian Church
Evangel is a Purposeful Church

Questions for Church Membership in the Presbyterian Church inAmerica (PCA)
1. Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?

2. Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope save in His sovereign mercy?
3. Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes the followers of Christ?
4. Do you promise to support the church in its worship and work to the best of your ability?
5. Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the church and promise to study its purity and peace?
